Henchman (Character)

Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Henchmen are zone enemies featured in all four base-game zones. They are the main minions of Master Lox, and impose his schemes across Terrapinia.

Appearance

Henchmen feature the same body shape as a regular Funkey, but have a searchlight for a head. Henchmen are made of silver metal with black accented limbs. Lines run across their body, presumably where each part of the machine's hull was bolted on. Henchmen are lightly color-coded based on the region they patrol; each one features a glowing searchlight, or "eye", and a capital letter H on their chests, which change color depending on the Henchman's designation. Purple Henchmen patrol Funkeystown, red Henchmen patrol Magma Gorge, blue Henchmen patrol Kelpy Basin, and green Henchmen patrol Laputta Station. These colors correspond to the zones' Portals and Gems.

Story

Henchmen were created by the villainous Master Lox to carry out his wicked goals remotely. Henchmen are deployed across various zones, serving the primary function of patrolling the streets and "taxing" Coins from Funkeys by zapping them with their searchlights and robbing them of a number of their Coins in the process.

When one of the four base-game zones has its Gem restored, its great power causes a Henchman's systems to gravely malfunction, destroying them in the process. The remains of the Henchmen are then either disposed of or scrapped for other uses. By the time Master Lox's identity is revealed, and the four Gems are restored, the Henchmen are presumably gone for good, though a 2.0 model of the red Henchmen would later appear in Paradox Green.

When placing the Henchman figure on the hub, U.B. is able to use a costume to appear identical to a Henchman. U.B. is able to steal coins from wandering Funkeys while in this disguise, and can enter the Villain's Den, one of Master Lox's outposts, and presumably the base where the Funkeystown Henchmen operate from.

In-game

Henchmen serve as the wandering enemies of all four base game zones. Being caught by one in old versions of the game immediately caused the player to lose Coins; in later updates, Henchmen- and other zone enemies like them- now initiate a minigame which can help the player lose less Coins based on their luck. Henchmen stop patrolling a zone when its Gem is completed.
