Xener is a Funkey released with the base game. The Xener tribe is native to Laputta Station.
Design
Xener are based on typical depictions of Martians, or little green men. Xener have wide, oval-shaped, featureless eyes. They have a quark symbol on their head, and are suited in gray and black jumpsuits. Common Xener have green skin, while Rare Xener have red and Very Rare Xener have black- making the symbol on their head very hard to see.
In-Game Description
Xener means traveler in Funkey. In the late 40th century, Funkeys were obsessed with space travel. They spent millions of coins on missions that accomplished very little. The last flight mission crashed and remains intact to remind them of this frivolous program but the Xener still believe that space travel is the final frontier.
It was the Xener experience with travel that helped the Guild of Master Technicians build the first portals. Their intention was to boldly go where no Funkey had gone before – the furthest reaches of space. But they found the portals ill equipped to reach that far. An unexpected benefit was using these portals for travel throughout Terrapinia.
Now the Xener spend most of their time playing space video games, honing their skills for one day, they will return to space.

- Did you know that the first Xener Space Craft were made from coconuts, my Native friend? At the time, it was very expensive.
Trivia
- When talking to a Native, the Xener describe that their first space crafts were built from coconuts. This references the Coconut 1, the ark that all of the other Natives took to jettison their people into deep space in search of new lands. Whether or not there is a significance to this connection is unknown, but the Xener are referred to in the Native's codex entry.
- In one of the early commercials for U.B. Funkeys, a Xener is erroneously depicted with its usual mouth replaced by a goatee. This may have been an effort to create a new mouth rig for the model for the sake of the Xener's speaking role in that commercial.
