Kane is a character who acts as a guide to the Hidden Realm, serving as the zone's deuteragonist. He also acts as an enemy who will occasionally challenge the player.

Appearance

Kane appears almost identical to the Oni, but with some key differences. Kane's body is white, but with dark grey patches instead of the red-colored marks of a normal Oni. He wears less clothing, as he has no armor or shirt on. He instead has long red gloves, and a red belt with ornate yellow embroidery. Kane's teeth are significantly shorter than an Oni's as well.

Kane wears a large red and grey samurai helmet with yellow accents and a gold emblem on its front. The helmet has two large red stag beetle horns on top. Beneath this helmet, Kane has a small tuft of orange hair. Removing the helmet is also the only way to see Kane's eyes, though he is never seen with them open. Kane also carries a red and silver blade with him; this weapon almost entirely consists of a massive silver bladed wedge, with a segment removed to feature a small red handle to grip onto.

In-Game

A member of the Oni tribe, Kane is the most powerful combatant of the Oni Dojo. He also leads a team of Oni fighters who currently reign as the undefeated champions of the Dojo (even though they have only ever fought each other).

After the departure of King Sidd, Kane was appointed as the interim leader of the Oni, a fact Kane seems to take great pride in. However, he and his subjects do sorely miss their rightful ruler, and he is ultimately willing to follow U.B. if it means finding the king's location.

Kane first appears to the player after they leave the dirigible and enter the Hidden Realm. Kane gives U.B. a small introduction to the realm and its Dojo, but underestimates the visitor by boasting about the Dojo's exclusivity; he further antagonizes the player by serving as an overworld enemy. As the player approaches the gates, Kane shows a humbler side, and describes how King Sidd created the gates after he ascended the mountain and left Kane in charge. Kane drops his gruff voice for a moment to speak more sensitively about his distaste for the gates' architectural design, but resumes his boisterous speech mannerisms afterwards. Kane and the Oni have been unable to surpass the gates, as they fail to understand King Sidd's message, and were incapable of destroying them with brute force.

When U.B. is caught by Kane while he roams the overworld as an enemy, Kane will challenge them with a game of rock-paper-scissors. Kane seems to be the most fair of the zones' enemies, as he allows the player to choose how many Coins they will bet. Kane's game is a best of three challenge, and if you win, he will give you the same amount as your bet. Of course, the inverse is true if Kane wins.

Kane also appears as the hardest enemy in the Oni Dojo. After the player defeats Kane in Funkey Fighters with all six of the Hidden Realm's tribes (Singe, Raj, Yang, Bomble, Nectar, and Maul), he rewards the player with the Hidden Realm Gem, respecting U.B.'s strength and pacifying his and the Oni's hostility.

Trivia

  • Kane is the only enemy character who does not seem to have any evil intent.
  • Kane is the only guide character who also serves as the zone's roaming enemy.
