Great Funkey War

The Great Funkey Wars was an important event in the history of Terrapinia that led to the unification of the Funkey tribes and the concealment of the Hidden Realm.

History

The Great Funkey Wars of the 3rd Funkazoic Era took place in the era directly before the Golden Age of Funkeys, which the end of the war heralded.

While the direct instigation event is unknown, the presumed harbinger of war was King Kahn, who led an army of unknown Funkeys to attack various settlements with the aim to conquer them. Because this war took place before the unification of Funkeys or the creation of the Portal system, Funkeys tribes were rarely, if at all, known to mingle with each other. As such, it was a losing fight for most tribes, notably among them the Oni of the Perilous Verge. Fearing for the safety of his people in the times of continued warfare, King Sidd and his confidant Kane shrouded the kingdom in a magic mist and destroyed the mountain trails leading to their city, as well as docking all their dirigibles. The Oni cut off all contact, and began using their new Oni Dojo to endlessly train for combat. Because the outside world and the Oni had no contact, the general population assumed the Oni to have fallen in war.

Rising to the occasion, King Funkankhamun rallied together the general Funkey population through an unknowably effective rally. The Funkey Codex in the modern day describes some Funkey tribes' direct contributions to the battles, such as the Scratch stunning foes with their music, or the Ace- specifically Rivet Rose, a member of their tribe- who build massive war machines, presumably the same kind displayed in the war zone of Nightmare Rift. The Tiki are said to have made the Bounce n' Break game as a time-killer while preparing for combat.

The war's end came about in a victory for the collective Funkey population over the invasive forces of Kahn. Kahn's fate is unknown, but since King Funk was able to unite Funkeykind under the banner of victory, the end of the war finally ended the Funkazoic Era, bringing about the Golden Age of Funkeys, which is the first era where the recognizable happy community of Terrapinia came into being.

Legacy

King Funkankhamun is not known to have made further major contributions to society after winning the war. After his success, at an undisclosed point in time, the king's traitorous liege, Kamenwati, banished the king with magic. Kamenwati himself was sealed away, but the good king's fate remained unknown. The Stitch moved to Magma Gorge, no longer having a king to serve, while the loyal Ptep remained guarding the king's throne in anticipation for his return, eventually moving to the replica of the king's now-ruined civilization when Nightmare Rift was created.

The Oni remained under the assumption that war still raged outside their gates all along, and continued to tirelessly train. The Oni and outside world both assumed each other gone.

Master Lox is credited in the Codex as being the greatest threat to Funkey society since this event, implying that no major warring factions, global crises, or tyrannical individuals had risen between the events of the Great Funkey Wars and the post-Great Disaster world. Thus, considering that one of the four major fears personified in Nightmare Rift is the fear of warfare, it is likely that stories of the hideous conflict during the Great Funkey Wars persisted through the generations, remaining a sensitive, fearsome topic.
