Jerry Pearl (Character)

Jerry Pearl is a character who acts as the guide to Funkiki Island.

Appearance

Jerry Pearl has a basic yellow body and a traditional Funkey shape. he wears an open red beach shirt with white flower patterns, a wide straw hat, and has thin gray hair that falls around the sides of his head, as well as in a goatee under his smirking mouth. Jerry's eyes are different sizes, and he wears loose red glasses under them, which are part of his figure's paint job, but are rendered separately in game renders. Jerry also wears sandals.

Story

Jerry Pearl was a visitor to Funkiki Island when the Great Disaster occurred. Stranded on the island with no way to teleport anywhere else, Jerry became a professional beach bum; he developed a close relationship with the Funkey tribes living there, becoming particularly skilled at their games. His skill in the Nibble's pearl diving activities earned him the Pearl surname.

When Jerry was presented with the ability to return to his home, he decided to remain on Funkiki Island, and serves as a tour guide to Funkeys like U.B. who visit for the first time. He follows U.B. around, commenting on any successes that the player has in earning each tribe's special item, which allows all of the hidden coconuts to be collected. When Jerry and U.B. find themselves in the presence of the Natives and their king, Jerry reveals that he speaks their language, serving as an interpreter for U.B. When it is revealed that the volcano has become agitated due to the presence of the Funkiki Gem in its magma, Jerry Pearl comes up with the idea to use all four tribe items to retrieve the Gem from the volcano, though his only contribution is to eat from the Nibble's chum bucket while U.B. grabs the Gem.

After the volcano soothes, the Natives no longer desire Funkey currency for volcanic offerings. Once Jerry is made aware that the Natives exchange coconuts as currency, he realizes that since he, too, forsook Coins in lieu of coconuts, he is now, by Native standards, rich. He presumably begins living a lavish lifestyle in the volcanic peaks alongside the Natives.

In-game

Jerry Pearl only appears in cutscenes, outside of his playable role using his figure from the Funkiki Adventure Pack. He introduces U.B. to the island, and praises the player for their skills when the score threshold is met to unlock each tribe's special item.
