Natives are enemies encountered in Funkiki Island.

Appearance

Unlike Funkeys, Natives have small, vaguely triangular torsos with no proper head. They have a Funkey's style of feet, but their arms are simple nubs. Natives have beady eyes, orange war paint on their cheeks, and red painted eyebrows. Red and orange feathers adorn the top of their head. They wear a straw skirt, and are commonly adorned with a large spear and a tiki mask shield.

Story

Natives, in the far, far past, were the dominant intelligent race, long before the advent of the first Funkeys. While their true species name remains unknown, Natives had become so intelligent, had explored so much of the world, and had developed such powerful technology that they came to desire a new world to call home. Gathering on the island where they first evolved, all Natives gathered onto a single space ark, but a few had to remain behind to help launch the ship using the power of the island's volcano. These last remaining Funkiki Natives returned to their natural roots and developed a tribal culture, while their abandoned civilization fell to obscurity and ruin.

By the events of the game, the Natives are led by the current Pineapple King, who has grown concerned about the unpredictable toiling of the volcano that their village is built around. Assuming that their culture's volcano god is angry, the Natives were ordered to pilfer Coins from Funkey tourists, taking them to the mouth of the mountain to feed the currency into the magma. When the agitated volcano was revealed to have been the work of the stray Funkiki Gem, the Natives no longer had a reason to steal Coins, as their culture deals in coconuts instead.

In-game

Natives are the roaming enemy of Funkiki Island. A minigame is started if U.B. is caught by one, usually resulting in coins being stolen.

When the story of Funkiki Island is resolved, no Natives roam around as hostile enemies. All Natives remain as NPCs in their outpost at the highest peak of the island.
